Risso's dolphins are one of the larger members of the dolphin family. They have a blunt head and no beak. Younger individuals are dark gray in color and as they grow older they acquire scratch marks all over their bodies, some adults are almost all white. Scientists think these marks are from parasites, squid, or bites from other risso's. Risso's dolphins only have teeth on their lower jaws-7 or fewer pairs-and no teeth on their upper jaw.
